About Me

What made you want to be an author?

I think I’ve always played around with words. For the longest time I incorporated this passion into other things that I did, but it wasn’t until I decided to write a story for my kids that the door was finally open.

How many books have you written?

I’ve written three books so far. Two of those are children’s books, and now I’m working on my first fantasy series – The Sunderer Saga.

What is the first book you wrote?

My first book, Claire the Very Shy Square was published when I was in my late forties. I don’t know if that’s considered late, but it felt so to me. It was the first in a series and I followed it up immediately with Scott the Dot Hatches a Plot. There are a few more books in that series coming up.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I can’t actually explain it. An idea just pops into my head and from that core of a concept I quickly build an entire world around it. Then what’s left is to put it into words. I wish that last part was as easy as the first.

Do you have any writing tips for an aspiring author?

Just keep writing. This is probably true for most other crafts as well – the more you do the better you get at it.

My favourite authors include

Kurt Vonnegut, Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams, Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne. The list goes on…

What is your favourite book of all time?

Probably Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
