The Daimons are ancient celestial beings, each embodying a fundamental Essence. Although imprisoned, they continue to influence mortal history through the Shardlings they send to earth.
Essence and influence
A Shardling carries a fragment of its Daimon and inherits its Essence, but not necessarily its will. The power that ultimately manifests also depends on the material surrounding the shard at landfall.
